FOUNDER, MARET LANE

Astrid
Green.

Building the service I wished existed.

I started Maret Lane because the service I wanted - for myself, and for the households I watched around me - didn't seem to exist yet.

What I kept noticing was a gap nobody was really naming. Families with cleaners. Families with gardeners. Families with two careers running and two or three kids running harder. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, one person still holding the whole week together in their head - the laundry, the groceries, the forms, the returns, the endless small decisions of a home.

The reality is, the job is just too big for one person with a full-time role on top of it. What most of these households need is someone else in the home, regularly, who treats it as a profession - and that's what I'm building.

A little about me

I spent seven years in hospitality, most of it in cocktail bars in places that cared about doing things properly. Hospitality at that level teaches you to read a room, anticipate what's needed before it's asked for and stay composed when three things are happening at once. It's one of the best foundations I can think of for running a household well.

After hospitality, I was in academic research, working in psychology. I stepped away before finishing my last qualification because I realised academic life wasn't quite the shape I wanted. I don't regret leaving, and I don't regret the years I spent there either. The training in how people live - how routines form, where friction hides, what makes a system stick - turns out to be genuinely useful in this work, even if I didn't expect it to be.

I also have two small children. Which means I'm running my own household at the standard I hold myself to, right alongside yours. I'm in the weeds of the problem I'm solving for other people.

How I work

I can only take on so many families at a time - somewhere around six. When I'm full, I'll keep a waiting list and get back in touch when a spot opens up.

I'm the only person who comes into your home. I don't sub-contract, I don't rotate staff and I don't send someone in my place when I'm unwell. If I can't make a visit, you'll know well in advance and we'll find another time that works.

I'm trying to build the kind of household service a handful of families stay with for years, quietly recommend to their closest friends, and genuinely miss if they ever move interstate.

If any of that sounds like what your household is looking for, I'd really love to hear from you.
